DUBAI — Travellers may now collect their visas by email or mobile phone, following a partnership concluded between flydubai and Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) on Wednesday.
The new service will remove the hassle of the visa process, and flydubai will be the launch customer for a trial period of three months to start on
May 19.
“When applying for entry permits, either by visiting DNRD offices or using online applications at www.dnrd.ae customers will receive a secure entry visa with DNRD e-logo and e-signature delivered via SMS and email,”
he said.
“Upon arrival, immigration officers in Dubai airport will be able to retrieve the original visa either by scanning the barcode from the visitor’s mobile phone or from a print out of the PDF.”

People from the select countries can apply through www.emirates.com for a 30-day or 96-hour visa, provided they are valid Emirates ticket-holders. The facility is subject to the pre-requisites defined by DNRD at www.dnrd.gov.ae.
A 96-hour visa will cost $44 while a 30-day visa will cost $57. Service fees are separate.
In the initial phase, the facility is being rolled out in 35 countries in the Far East, the Indian sub-continent, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas.
In the second phase, due in the coming weeks, offline markets will be targeted, among them countries that
do not have Emirates services, but which connect to nearby gateways of the airline.
Visas are delivered via email within four international working days. Passengers can continually track the status of their applications.
It is available to Emirates ticket holders regardless of whether the booking is done online, by an Emirates office, or a travel agent.
Passengers click ‘Manage Your Booking’ on www.emirates.com and proceed with seven simple steps to complete the transaction.
